PS185
(Walter Kassenbrock School)
Welcome to PS 185’s chess program with Chess Advance! Our goal is to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students develop a lasting appreciation for the game of chess. Each lesson is interactive and hands‑on, blending guided exploration with strategic thinking and teamwork so students learn by actively engaging, not just listening. Players are encouraged to think critically, share their ideas, and grow from both their successes and their mistakes. Every student will receive premium access to ChessKid or Lichess, giving them a safe and engaging online space filled with lessons, puzzles, and challenges that support growth at every level. As the program develops, we’re excited to build a competitive chess team that will proudly represent PS 185 in local, state, and national tournaments.
