Our primary goal is to inspire a genuine love for this incredible game in our students. Our teaching approach emphasizes active learning through discussion, analysis, and problem-solving, encouraging students to ask thoughtful questions and engage deeply with each lesson. To enrich the chess experience, each student will receive Gold membership on ChessKid or access to Lichess—both safe, kid-friendly platforms where students can watch instructional videos, solve puzzles, and track their progress. As students develop their skills, we aim to build a chess team that proudly represents Brooklyn Friends School in local, state, and national chess competitions.
